Long time no chat my little chick-a-dees! So sorry for my absence but for those of you who know the ins and outs of The Sweetest "T" in the South, you'd know things have been... shall we say hectic since taking it all in a new direction? So for my absence I apologize, but for what I have been working on? I shall not, for as my good friends in NOLA say, "Art does not apologize!".
So let's give an update shall we? Where to begin? I have my new website updated if you will peruse, I am sure you will agree, it is about darned time!!! Go to www.talloolah.com you will see my latest shoots and can keep up with future shows and of course, my day to day activities are always available on twitter and facebook! :)
Last week, I went to see The Dames A'flame with The King Sized Orchestra. Big Mike is looking quite svelte and trim these days, and sounding even more stellar than ever! The Elvis show is always a blast, though I was sad not to see my darling El Vez. This will be the first year in three that I have gone an entire year with no dose of El Vez... I might just go in to shock!
This weekend was ... to put it lightly, insane. I had a lovely weekend filled with burlesque and hot steampunk action, and more hot. Friday night, I spent a lovely evening hosting the beautiful dancer Mrs. Christy Smith and her lovely husband Doug, Saturday, the good Dr. Q and I tended to the lab to prepare it for a great experiment, which we will get in to later.
Saturday evening the beautiful Kisa Von Teasa, Mr. Von Teasa, Queenie, and Onca O'Leary all decended upon Casa de V after a stellar show put on by Syrens of the South Productions at the Eyedrum. What a lineup, what a show!!! I was so impressed and proud of all of the people on the stage who have been working so hard to put together such a fun and beautiful show. Katherine Lashe really pulled no punches on gathering some of the South's finest together, and though I heard there were 17 acts, like most shows that are just too good for words, it went by in a flash. We had a great time at the after party. Talk about a fantastic host and hostess! Thanks Christy & Doug!!! Nothing like ending a stressful, insane day with some hot tub action and good people. But it wasn't too long before the hay had to be hit and we all needed to rest for the next day's early morning action!
Sunday, we all hit the ground running. Onca left in hot purple shorts to go practice with the amazing ladies of Awalim, while Kisa, Queenie, Dr. Q, and I got the house ready for the largest photo shoot I have ever coordinated! Some twenty local steampunk cosplayers descended upon the house in force. Tesla guns, top hats cocked, and goggles at the ready, the models were positively divine in far more decadence than I could have ever dreamed of! Thanks to Queenie, and Megan Maude, the sets were divine, thanks to all the models, and Dr. Q, and Mr. Appleblossom, everyone stayed fed and hydrated. Though it was chaotic, the shoot worked out like well, clockwork, and though i won't tell you the details, you will have to wait for the release... I think this will be one of the best shoots I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of!!!
Appleblossom, and Matt of DimHorizon Studios worked tirelessly throughout the day snapping shots, and directing the artists... We all sat still for about twenty minutes to eat lunch, then we ventured to the Pirate Ship Venus for a time with Captain Bill and his good wife Cat. It was a great day of socializing, perusing and posing for all!
Here it is Monday, the lab is starting to come back together slowly but surely, and we hope to show off the fruits of our labor soon! Nine days from Dragon Con, we are all just exhausted and hoping to breathe for a moment soon before getting back in to fifth gear! I have two costumes in the works, and will be working on a video project and big prop here soon for the next Blast-off Burlesque show.

I told you it was a big ol' whirlwind didn't I?

Well I wasn't lying, true to form things have gone all Topsy-turvy in Talloolah Land! but that's the way the tassel twirls darlin' some times you gotta pick up yer bootstraps and shake it up!
So if you're behind on the times, I made a press release the other day about my separation from Syrens:
http://www.facebook.com/talloolah?v=app_2347471856
I am excited about the possibilities on the horizon I hope you all are too! I loved doing Syrens, but it was time.
I also had the privilege to work with Pinup girl Cosmetics for a photo shoot. I am SOOO excited to get to show you all the results! I got a small taste through the viewfinder and I am thinking: HOT HOT HOT!!!
You should check out Pinup's latest and greatest photos and summer saving's sale. What better way to start a great summer than sexy summer photos?!?

This next month I look forward to going to Vegas for the Miss Exotic World, Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend! Miss Renea' Le Roux, and my good friend, Miss Kisa von Teesa will be competing for their respective categories and I just can't wait to tell you all about the nitty gritty of the fine and glittery burlesque supa' stars!!!
The next plans I have are for the fantastical Americana Burlesque and Sideshow Festival (ABS Fest). This fabulous gala is run by one of the coolest people I know, Ms. Onca O'Leary. I am hoping a good number of people come out to see this show, it's going to be FAN TASTIC, Asheville is after all, the Paris of the South, the weekend is fraught with divine decadence and reckless abandon as it starts with serenades on a big purple bus that bustles through town as deep swigs of booze and fraternizing action of the performers and crew tumbles all through the streets! And that's just opening night!!! The shows are always amazing, the afterparties are fabulous, and all the while the entire event (that is really burlesque AND sideshow) smacks of not only incredible entertainment, but real workshops you can sink your teeth in to and really learn about the culture, the background the work that goes in to all of the thing burlesque requires. The special featured performer is none other than the enchanting Michelle L'amour
Ms. L'amour is one of the very first professional burlesque performers I ever actively did research on. She won the crown the year I really started to look in to traveling and fell in love with her instantly, I mean, who doesn't love the idea of Snow White gone bad bad bad?!?!
And the new thing this year is the Tiki Brunch at Asheville's Tiki Bar with a conga line run by the one and only Blastoff Folks who, I hear are performing through out the weekend guys!!! :) You know I love me some Blastoff! Tell me this doesn't sound like a real party!

One whirlwind after another!
And it just isn't going to slow down soon friends, no not at all!!!
Were you at the Mechanical Masquerade weekend before last? If you weren't you missed a great party. Not only was it a fabulous event, but it was also Katherine Lashe's birthday party! I did a number about torture just for her, and I made a great big cthulhu pinata for her that was of epic proportion!!! Wombat capture a picture of the act
Did you hear my good friend Ursula Undress made runner up in the Viva Las Vegas Competition? I know I just keep going on about it, but I think it's stellar, and I couldn't be more proud! I only wish I could have been there!

This week, I have a packed schedule, I just came back from a PACKED show at Frolicon performing for Momma D's house of Burlesque, then a fabulous after party at the abode de Sabrina Pandora, tonight is massage then lyra, I wouldn't bet for a second my poor little muscles are going to be very confused!
Then tomorrow is rehearsal with the Vauxhall players, and then Wednesday is my favorite night of the month!!! Atlanta Burlesque and Cabaret Club Meeting! YAY!!! I am hoping Ursula will be able to join us for a pop of the bubbly and a toast in her honor! (Crosses Fingers)
Thursday, I perform for Vagina Jenkin's Benefit to get her to London, then oh my, do I get to breathe for a second Friday??? Perhaps! But then Saturday is the student showcase and Cock-a-billy/ Chicken show! Sunday, it's back on the lyra for me, and I don't even want to think about the schedule for next week 'till I have to, rest assured at some point I will have to pack for Chicago for the Windy City Burlesque Festival,
then turn around and pack for Austin! April is going to be the death of the Talloolah Bird, I just know it!!!
All my love with crystal kisses!

Time to get a bit more personal
Don't get me wrong duckies, I do love a good blog update as much as the next gal, and I love writing all the columns that I do, but now, I think it's high time to add a little Talloolah flare to her personal pontificational don't you?
So here's a little highlight from this past weekend!
I performed with that lovely, that gracious, that force of nature, the Fabulous Mamma D in Charlotte. With her beautiful beauties and dashing gents, we partied the night away with a stellar valentease show that knocked more than socks off in the beautiful Visualite theatre. I performed again with the lovely Renea' Le Roux, the tantalizing Nicolette Tesla, the cute as a button miss Cherry Muffin, and the lovely Miss Gigi Boom made her stage debut as well! There were of course many others, they were all awesome, warm and gracious. I had a fantastic time, and can't wait to hit the stage with them again in the near future.
Tribute to narcissism? Why, I do not mind if I doo!!! Here are a few shots taken by Ron Tencati of yours truly:

and

Here's one with a real card,Ron Tencati and the beautimous Mamma D!

So onward and upward I always say my friends, and nothing's better than looking up to only five days ahead to begin to appreciate where things are headed! This weekend I take the stage with some good friends and kind company at the Vroom Vroom Valentine's show. This thing's got some velocity! So better hop on for the ride guys!

Hope to see you there! Get your tickets now so they are only $10! go to www.syrensofthesouth.com and order before 5pm Friday!!!

Sunday:
12pm Beyond Boobies, put some hep in your step! With Hotsie Totsie
After a decade of training in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, and Renaissance dancing, Hotise Totsie got hep to the jive. Now this burlesque baby puts some swing in her step! In Beyond Boobies, Hotsie will teach you how to borrow moves from the stars of the Cotton Club, the Folies Bergeres, the Vegas Strip, and the silver screen -- even if you have no formal dance experience. It's burlesque appeal with or without the reveal! The class is open to guys and dolls. Wear clothes you can move in --high heels, if you can handle them!
2pm They shimmied, they smoked, they spooned, and they sizzled. They cut their hair short and their hemlines shorter. And when the depression hit, their bare skin raised spirits higher than the arch in their eyebrows. These were the bad girls of the twenties and thirties. This class will focus on the moves that grew out of the radical new styles of entertainment, dress, and behavior in the crazy decades between the Wars.
ABCs & 123s Burlesque Classes are $20 each or you can by a four class pass for $60, making each class only $15, saving you $20. Workshops do have a minimum attendance requirement, so if you plan to be there please send us an email to pre-register at syrensofthesouth@gmail.com no later than 5pm the Friday before the scheduled class if you have not already prepaid for the class or if you are planning on using a class pass. All classes are intended for ages 18+, all sexes, genders and sexual preferences unless otherwise noted. There is no nudity in any of our classes or productions.
